One of the hardest teams to make in the World is the U.S. men’s shot put Olympic team. Thirteen men have the Olympic Standard and eight of them are ranked within the top 20 in the World!

Favored to Win

Major stand out is Joe Kovacs who leads the World this year, and the Diamond League race in the men’s shot put (22.13m). While he seems to be the clear favorite he will still have to place in the top three at the Olympic Trials to secure his spot on the Olympic team.

Men’s shot put will be a tough team to make. The top three men WITH the Olympic Standard at the Olympic Trials will make the Olympic team.

Who to watch

Young guys like Ryan Crouser (21.85m) and Darrell Hill (21.16m) have been throwing well this season, but can they beat their older competition like Jordan Clarke (21.11m), Ryan Whiting (21.06m), and Reese Hoffa (20.83m)? This will definitely be one of the best competitions in the field at the Olympic Trials!
